Our funding purchased a hoist for a yoga project
All children at Paternoster School in Cirencester are now able to access yoga as a therapeutic intervention, regardless of physically ability. Before, the school had cumbersome process using two people for their PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) pupils to gain access to the mat. Now we are able to manoeuvre pupils singluary and seamlessly into purposeful setup so the yoga intervention begins and ends with the calm, nurturing environment that it needs. This makes a massive impact on the outcomes of the session and the benefit for the pupils. Now all pupils in the school can access yoga sessions, either as a group or one-to one. In the Covid-19 crisis, where pupils have been at home for a long period of time, the school are able to plan in yoga interventions for all to support well being and self regulation.
Our grant also funded a handbike for a Duke of Edinburgh project…
“Oh. my. goodness. For me?” was the response of the semi-ambulant pupil who needed support to complete the physical aspect of his DofE award. This bike will enable pupils with physically disabilities to have access to new experiences and achieve things they never thought possible.
